1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember something between page loads — that your cart has two items in it, for example, or that you are signed in. Some cookies last only for the visit (“session cookies”); others stay for a set period (“persistent cookies”). Similar technologies such as local storage work the same way, and this policy covers them too.
2. Our approach
We keep cookies to the minimum needed to run a shop. Everything on this site today is either strictly necessary (the cart and checkout cannot work without it) or a security cookie set by our payment provider at the moment you pay. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies and no social media pixels on jerseybonkers.com.
Because nothing here tracks you across other websites, you will not see a cookie banner on this site. If that changes, we will ask for your consent before any non-essential cookie is set.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These are set by WordPress and WooCommerce, the software that runs the store. They are first-party cookies on jerseybonkers.com.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| woocommerce_cart_hash | Stores a fingerprint of your cart so we know when its contents change. | Session |
| woocommerce_items_in_cart | Records whether the cart has items, so the cart counter is correct. | Session |
| wp_woocommerce_session_… | Links your browser to your cart and order-in-progress on our server. | 2 days |
| wordpress_logged_in_… | Keeps you signed in to your account. | Session or 14 days |
| wordpress_sec_… | Security cookie used to verify a signed-in session. | Session |
| wp-settings-… / wp-settings-time-… | Remembers interface preferences such as which panels are open in the admin bar. | 1 year |
| woocommerce_recently_viewed | Remembers the products you looked at so the “recently viewed” list works. | Session |
You can block these in your browser, but the cart, checkout and account pages will stop working — the store cannot tell one shopper’s cart from another without them.
4. Payment provider cookies
Stripe. When the card payment form loads, Stripe sets cookies on our domain to detect fraudulent payments. They contain a random identifier, not your card details. Typically: __stripe_mid (1 year), __stripe_sid (30 minutes) and m (2 years, on m.stripe.com). Stripe’s own policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
PayPal. If you choose PayPal you are redirected to paypal.com, where PayPal sets its own cookies under its own policy. We do not control those cookies; they are part of the PayPal login and payment flow.
Ticking “save my payment method” is only possible inside Stripe or PayPal. We never store card data ourselves.
5. What we do not use
- No Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok, Snapchat or LinkedIn tracking.
- No heat maps or session recording (Hotjar, Clarity, Smartlook and similar).
- No retargeting or cross-site advertising cookies.
- No data clean rooms, identity graphs or data brokers.
Order figures come from our own database, not from a third-party analytics package.
6. Managing cookies
Every major browser lets you view, block and delete cookies — usually under Settings → Privacy, or by pressing F12 and opening Application → Cookies. Useful pages: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
To clear what this shop has stored, delete cookies for jerseybonkers.com and empty your cart. Using a private window also starts you with a clean cart.
7. Consent in the EEA and UK
Under the ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR, cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for do not require consent — that covers every cookie listed in section 3. Stripe’s fraud-prevention cookies are treated the same way, because they are essential to process a card payment securely.
If we introduce anything that is not strictly necessary, we will add a consent banner that blocks those cookies until you agree, and record your choice so we can honour it.
8. Changes
We review this page whenever the platform, a plugin or a payment provider changes what it stores. The “Last updated” date at the top always reflects the current list.
